SCOT LUTHER
Scot Luther is a founding partner of Virgata Property Company and oversees the firm’s acquisitions. Scot has 30 years of commercial real estate experience and since he began taking ownership in real estate ventures in 1999, has acquired or developed 40 retail and medical properties totaling over 450,000 square feet located in Texas, Mississippi and Tennessee. Since 2003, Scot and partner Jim Peterson have served as preferred developers for Fresenius Medical Care, the largest provider of Dialysis treatment in the world. Prior to running his own business; Scot served as Director of Acquisitions for CenterAmerica Property Trust, a Morgan Stanley owned REIT where he was responsible for acquiring grocery anchored centers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Scot began his real estate career as a Leasing Executive at Weingarten Realty (WRI) where he negotiated hundreds of retail leases and renewals over an eight-year tenure. Beginning in 2008, he served as a Board Member of REITPlus, a private, publicly regulated REIT and upon its merger into AMREIT (NYSE) in 2010, served as a Board member of AMREIT until it was sold to Edens in 2015. Scot currently serves as a Trustee of the Houston Real Estate Business Coalition and has formerly served on the Board of the Presbyterian School, Secretary of the Episcopal High School Dad’s Club, a Councilman on the City Council of Southside Place and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church Houston.
